Trust God

QUESTION: Trust God - Can I Learn to Trust?

ANSWER:

Trust God – Insights from God’s Word
A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet. On shigionoth. Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. - Habakkuk 3:1–2

Trust God – Surrender to Him
Prayer: My precious Lord and King, I stand in awe of Your magnificence and I tremble in anticipation of Your Presence. I fall to my knees knowing You are real and recognizing You are reaching out from heaven to all with eyes to see and ears to hear. The times in which we live are awesome and wonderful times, and they are also very sobering. I am continuously being reminded that those who are entrusted with much -- much more will be expected.

There is no way, my King, for this servant of God to retreat from the path You have placed me on. I am acutely aware that I have options -- I am not a puppet – but rather I am a woman of faith. I have chosen to live the life of an overcomer. I have chosen to take a stand and fight -- irregardless of the odds or the strength of the opposition.

You have been teaching me for many years about the value of faithfulness and the reward of perseverance. I have learned to turn to You alone in times of conflict -- knowing it is the right course of action. Over and over again I have watched You reveal Your unsurpassing greatness. I have watched Your grace at work, and seen Your almighty power rise up and destroy the fortresses of evil assigned against me and those for whom I pray.

I have on occasion descended into a darkness that threatened to overcome and derail me from accomplishing Your will. However there was never a moment when I doubted Your Presence was near and Your angels of protection surrounded me. On these occasions, like Habakkuk, I cried and wailed as I sought Your Face -- knowing You were my only refuge and my only hope.

This morning I find myself very grateful for all the battles I have fought and all the testing I have endured. I see now how necessary they all were for me to overcome the battles I face today. You never said it would be easy -- and it hasn’t -- but I have gained a courageous spirit I didn’t even know was possible.

The Body of Christ appears to be awakening from a very deep slumber, and as You begin to position us together, the magnitude of Your love for us is being revealed. To be alive in these days, and a member of Your Body, is the greatest privilege any of us could have ever asked for. I am coming to understand -- along with many others -- that I have been born for this battle. You have set my feet on paths littered with opposition. You have allowed me to experience the testing ground of Your challenges, and You have hidden Yourself on occasion so I could seek You out as my hunger increased.

I know I have a long way to go -- and I know I certainly don’t understand it all. But my faith is stronger today than it has ever been. My trust is in You and Your ability to take my hand and direct my steps as you grow me exponentially.

I recognize a storm brewing on the horizon and I see that many are so blinded by busyness and weariness that they are in danger of being overcome. My heart cries out -- not on my watch! So I turn to You in this moment as the storm approaches, and I ask You to wake Your church up. The winds of change are everywhere all around us. Satan is roaring and prowling. People are fighting with each other, and Your people are beginning to recognize that all their gifts, talents and abilities are nothing if they are not surrendered to You for Your use.

You will have a church in the end that is Christ like in all they do. You will have a Body totally committed to the service of our King and His people. You will walk with us hand in hand and Your Holy Spirit will help us fight the fight of faith and finish well. You are revealing Your holiness for all to see, and You are causing a refreshment of Your fire and passion to be set ablaze in our hearts. We are waking up -- we are crossing over the Jordan into the Promised Land, and by Your grace and mercy we will overcome anything set against us.

To You, we sing praises and to You, we surrender all for Your glory and for the salvation of the lost.

Trust God – Making it Personal
Reflect: If you have been called by Christ there is no doubt you will face many battles and will find yourself being stretched by the King Himself for His use. If you have committed your life to Him and have surrendered your own agenda to His full control, you are about to embark on a remarkable quest. We live in awesome times and are privileged to be chosen by God for just such a time as this. You have been born to fight the fight of faith and like many who have gone before you, you will often sense that only God can accomplish His purposes in you. You will come to recognize your own frail nature and will throw yourself daily at His feet seeking his grace and mercy. Do not be afraid, rather be grateful that you have been chosen to finish the race well. Journal as you go, and please do not forget to pray without ceasing.

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus
