Glory of God

QUESTION: Glory of God - Draw Me Near

ANSWER:

Glory of God – Insights from God’s Word
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of Your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and I will meditate on Your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of Your awesome works, and I will proclaim Your great deeds. They will celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness. - Psalm 145:3-7

Glory of God – A Deeper Understanding
Prayer: Sweet Jesus, to be in the presence of Your reflected glory, is a gift of such magnitude, that my heart fills to the brim, as I recognize the love and caring spirit that powers the magnificence of my God. I sit here in awe just knowing I can turn my heart to You in prayer, and trust that Your Holy Spirit will empower our time together. To know You are drawing me to Yourself makes my heart pound. Your works and Your ways are beyond my comprehension, yet every morning You take me deeper in my understanding of Your nature, and You bathe me with Your grace and mercy.

You are beyond anything that makes sense in my flesh. My heart is full of praise and thanksgiving that You desire to have me see You as You really are. I am in awe that You have given me the power of the Holy Spirit. As I think about my God, I am dumbstruck at the vastness of Your nature, and the seemingly unending number of abilities and characteristics that make up Your nature. I could spend eternity trying to figure this all out. Actually, I guess I will as that is what heaven is all about!

I pray this morning that all of Your children -- everywhere around the world -- will come to a place of deep understanding about who You are. I pray that the perception most of us have about You be enlarged, so that we will see You in the magnificence of Your nature, and therefore grow stronger in our own faith walk. I pray we will spend time learning about Your ways, about Your nature. As we do, I ask You to take each one of us into the sanctuary of Your divine temple where, in surrender, we can lay aside all of our old patterns, comfort zones, anxieties, and confusions. Bathe us in the magnificence of Your nature -- the nature You freely choose to share with us, so we can minister in Your Name effectively, expressing through our worship, the true devotion only You deserve.

I also ask You, Lord Jesus, to gently stop us before we walk by a person in need. I ask You to stop us from overlooking the obvious signs of Your work all around us, so we can become a functioning part of what You are doing. I look heavenward at Your creation beauty alone, and find myself fascinated by the intricacies of everything I see. Help us to stop overlooking Your magnificence and the splendor of Your works. We are so guilty of taking all of this for granted. We are so guilty of putting You in a small box. Remind us, if we choose, we can fix our eyes on You -- the author and finisher of our faith, and Your Holy Spirit will help draw us closer to You. Stop us from walking any further down the path of selfishness.

Only You are worthy, only You are endless. You are great and beyond anything I can understand in my wildest imaginings. With the blink of Your eye, death is defeated, hopelessness lifted, cold hearts changed into living, breathing people willing to share Your love with a world locked in despair. Your glory surrounds us every moment of every day -- we are just usually to busy to recognize it. Oh how You want to share it with us, and how blind we often are to Your very real Presence.

I praise and thank You for all I see, and all I understand to this point. I humbly close my eyes and ask You to take me deeper into the beauty of Your nature, where Your light begins to shine out of me -- and by extension into the lives of everyone I touch. May all I do bring You the honor and glory only You deserve. As I praise You from the depth of my being, I bow in surrendered awe, at all You have made -- and all You have done in my life, and in the life of my family and church. I am stunned, and in this moment I can hardly breathe! Thank You, Jesus, for Your magnificent presence in our lives. To You be all the honor and glory!

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?
