Unity in the Body of Christ

QUESTION: Unity in the Body of Christ

ANSWER:

Unity in the Body of Christ – Insights from God’s Word
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking what is mine and making it know to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. - John 16:13-15

Unity in the Body of Christ – God’s Truths are the Cornerstone
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for Your Presence in my life and for Your truths which are the cornerstone on which I build my life. In this place -- at this moment -- there is only one cry coming from deep within -- and that is for Your face to shine upon me and all who choose to pray this prayer.

Lord, I am convinced that my life and ministry is totally dependent on my ability to hear and receive from Your Holy Spirit. It is this recognition that allows me to serve You at Your pleasure, and it is this recognition that gives me the strength to keep on keeping on. You are ever present in this world -- all around us. You are reaching out to us and calling on us to seek Your face. You are reminding us that our character is critically important, for without a solid foundation of spirit led character, we would surely falter.

As I pray this morning, I thank You for the heads-up I am receiving about the ease with which we can falter and fall. All through Your Word You remind us of the danger of being seduced by power and authority, claiming it for ourselves -- instead of waiting for You to bestow it. You have helped me to see many times that I have almost been led astray as my pride attempted to gain control and lead me down my own path -- instead of the one You had plowed for me.

How I yearn to hear Your Voice -- it is a sustaining force that keeps me from overstepping my authority. When You speak to me through Your Word and Your Holy Spirit, it has always proven to be right and pure. When You whisper Your secrets to me in prayer-- and I take them to Your word for validation -- they have proven time and again to be the directions I was waiting for -- the directions that You have been preparing me for.

I am so grateful this morning for the love You shower on me and on Your church. To know how much You love us and to be a part of this special relationship is a reward I treasure! Everywhere I look in the Body of Christ I see You revealed. You are not limited to any one stream of water, rather, Your water flows through all the tributaries leading into the great waters of Your church. You are forming us into a great force, getting us ready for the waves of change that are coming. You are always moving, always challenging Your kids, and always drawing us to Yourself. You are speaking to those who are listening.

Thank You for Your Holy Spirit which keeps me rooted and grounded in Your truths and gives me the wisdom I need to see the real from the counterfeit. What a God we serve who desires intimacy with us at a level we have yet to fully grasp. Thank You, that day after day You help to set us free from the things that have bound us and prevented us from joining forces with other members of Your Body, to fight the good fight.

There is no place I can go that You are not there. There is no problem I have You cannot solve. There is so much ahead for all of us, that if we understood the magnitude of it -- we would surely run and hide. Yet, day by day, You grow us up and build us up -- and we grow stronger and are able to take our proper places as You reveal them to us. You have saved us from a cold, purposeless religion and transformed us into a living, breathing body of believers -- willing to put it on the line for the cause of Christ. We could never have gotten here without Your grace and mercy, and we could never have walked our walk without the love and support of the King of Kings. You put an ax to the root of our pride and transformed us into a glorious Body willing to take back that which Satan has stolen.

Unity in the Body of Christ – Making it Personal
Reflect: The Holy Spirit will only speak the things that are given to Him by the Father and the Son. As we learn to glorify Jesus Christ with the works of our hand, as led by the Holy Spirit, our lives and ministries will be changed and the reflection of that change will be seen in changed lives all around us. Our impact on the world will be magnified, as the desire of God for His Son is fulfilled through our lives. Ask the Holy Spirit to grow you in strength and wisdom so you will be prepared to take your proper place in the emerging army of warriors now being built. Ask Him to help you to trust His ways.

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus
