The Army of God

QUESTION: The Army of God – Standing Together

ANSWER:

The Army of God – Insights from God’s Word
They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. They all march in line, not swerving from their course. They do not jostle each other; each marches straight ahead. They plunge through defenses without breaking ranks. They rush upon the city; they run along the wall. They climb into the houses; like thieves they enter through the windows. Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine. The Lord thunders at the head of His army; His forces are beyond number, and mighty are those who obey His command. The day of the Lord is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it? - Joel 2:7-11

The Army of God – God’s Mobilizing an Army
Prayer: Lord, thank You that Your battle lines are forming. Thank You that You are taking Your position at the head of Your army. I bow before you today recognizing the sacrifice it took for You to claim back for all of us, and for all future generations, our right to an eternity with You.

You look over Your flock with such tenderness, and Your eyes moisten as You see the strays wandering from Your protective embrace. The trumpet begins to sound, and Your warriors are arriving from every part of the globe. Many who have been faithful in the small things are now being given more opportunities. Your eyes blaze as You look at the onslaught of darkness approaching, and You remind me to pray.

I call out to You, and I begin to run towards Your bright light. I am not fearful as I recognize I am surrounded by an army of brothers and sisters who are marching alongside of me. I take my first small step of faith this morning as I ask for Your guidance for my day. I step up to acknowledge Your sovereignty and to praise You for all You mean to me.

The radiance of Your Presence is everywhere in this place, and the very hearts of the broken and bruised are being healed as they look up and recognize You. All their fears and doubts are being swept away as they see for themselves Your truths in a way they have never experienced before. Your Words of life are coming alive with passion and meaning. Your promises are being revealed to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Your love for all You have made is seen in Your surrendered ones, and they are moving forward.

I pray today for the multitude of people who are called, but have not yet responded. I pray that my brothers and sisters marching alongside of me will fall to their knees and pray. I recognize the opportunity we are being given right now in this moment to slam the door shut in Satan’s face and prevent him from taking any more ground. You have mapped out a battle plan for us, and You have closed all the avenues of escape for the enemy. You are assuring our victory because our case is pure and righteous, and our King is Truth.

Step by step we are taking back our families. Step by step we are igniting a flame of passion in our churches and in our ministries. Step by step we are coming together recognizing the time is ripe, and for just such a time as this, we were created. You put each one of us in our rightful places, You arm us with the armor of God, and You empower us with the truth of Your Word. Your Presence is everywhere all around us. Those who have Your eyes and Your ears and Your mind are recognizing one another and are coming together in a unity of purpose that will not be stopped.

I pray for my brothers and sisters that they will look carefully at the call You have placed on their hearts and step up to the plate. I pray they will be alert to Your timing, and I pray they will willingly serve where You have placed them. If there is anyone attempting to strive in their own power for their own motivations, Lord, please show them they are making a mistake and quickly set them back on Your path.

As troubles come our way, Lord, help us to look at these troubles as the opportunities they really are. When we are feeling emotions that have us confused and unsettled us, please help us to see Your purposes in these struggles. Nothing is too difficult for you, and with You victory is a done deal. Teach this army that wanders to and fro, to stop and wait for their marching orders. Teach them to listen to their leaders and to pray for them. Teach us all to recognize the glorious times in which we live as the fulfillment of many of Your promises. Teach us not to fear -- but rather to surrender those fears. Teach us to trust You and your messengers of power who are around us everywhere in this world.

I pray we will not settle for anything less than the victory we are promised, and that as we work together to accomplish Your callings, we will be at peace in our minds and souls, bodies and spirits. Thank You, Lord, for taking the lead at the head of this army of believers. Thank You that You chose us from the beginning for just such a moment as this. We serve today at Your pleasure, and we wait in anticipation for Your marching orders! To You be all the honor and praise.

The Army of God – Making it Personal
Reflect: More and more there is an awakening happening in the Body of Christ. Churches and ministries, villages and tribes from around the world are mobilizing. God is working in unique ways and He is working in familiar ways. We all need to be alert to what He is doing all around us, and we need to be willing to join Him in His efforts. This will mean we need to lay down our own desires and seek to pick up His Cross and follow wherever that leads. It starts in the small things where our faithfulness is revealed, and it grows as we take our proper places. If you are not asking God what that place is for you, this is a great time to begin a time of daily prayer seeking His guidance. The battle is often won in the small, seemingly insignificant things we do that reflect Christ at work in us -- over time the accumulation of all these events results in the victory we have been promised. Begin now -- ask Him to show You His way.

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus
