Importance of God’s Word

QUESTION: Importance of God’s Word - A Prayer of Commitment

ANSWER:

Importance of God’s Word -Insights from God’s Word
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ''Be holy, because I am holy. - 1 Peter 1:13-16

Importance of God’s Word – Spiritual Nourishment
Prayer: I am recognizing more and more each day that although I still have a lot of questions to one day lay before You, You are working overtime to draw me closer as You prepare me for what lies ahead. There is an almost daily reminder coming from Your Throne of Grace, that surrender is the key to unlocking the door to my destiny -- which also means my life will change.

Your Word is the source of my food and it is the fuel You use to turn me upside down and even inside out as You remove the bad seeds of my life. This process of preparation is often challenging, but I know if I want to grow and be used by You, I need to be ready for the new wineskin You are preparing for me.

Knowing You as a "Holy God" has caused me to seek holiness for my own life. You are helping me to see that You are the most important relationship I will ever have in my life -- and no counterfeit substitute will satisfy the depth of hunger I have for You. Walking with You has uncovered my tendency to isolate and revealed it for the dangerous evil it really is. You have used my family and my church to teach me a great deal about the need for healthy relationships in my life. You created me to live in fellowship with You and with others -- and You will no longer let me hide away.

How do I thank You for the freedom I have today? The closer I grow to You, the more dependent I become -- and that looseness often shines a bright light on the things in my life that try to eclipse my love for you. It is impossible for me in these days to love You as I do without also loving all the other people You have put in my life -- many of whom I don't even know.

I have been taught that we must "keep the main thing, the main thing" -- which tells me that only as my love for You grows and grows, will I really be able to love as You want me to love.

I am praying today, Lord, for You to touch us all with an understanding of what is available to us as Your kids. Clearly, You are pruning away anything that is not of You in our lives -- so that our own human concerns do not overtake us and stop us from growing closer to You.

I am asking You to clear the debris on the pathways we walk so we don't get tangled up -- and therefore waylaid from the purposes You have outlined for our lives. I ask You to remove the envy, jealousy, and pride You see lurking in the shadows of our lives before conflicts emerge and destroy all the good that has gone before. Help us to be flexible and tolerant with one another so You can fill our new wineskins to the brim.

Your Body is in fluid motion in these days, and I know how important it is that we truly love one another, understand and value what God is doing in our lives, and cooperate with His Holy Spirit as we go. The most important thing any of us can do is to recognize what we are doing -- and follow Your lead. Otherwise we will waste far too much time and resources building something that will only burn up in the end.

We need Your help, Jesus! We need a fresh, new visit from You, Lord! We need to grab on to the Holy Spirit's "eagles wings" and allow Him to teach us where, when, and how high to fly. Only You know the direction You want us to take. You have clearly chosen man to be the instrument You use to wipe away the tears of oppression and bring hope to the hopeless and helpless -and that humbles me!

We need Your Holy Spirit to help us remain focused and alert to the cry of Your heart! So I pray that all my brothers and sisters will keep the promises of 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 in their minds and hearts -- so they can wisely use the spiritual weapons You have given them -- which are more powerful than anything the world can throw our way!

Even though the enemy is prowling and devouring, You are raising up Your Body to take charge -- and this means a change is coming which will most likely remove our comfort zones and turn our focus back in Your direction. Give us the strength to persevere so we will all cross the finish line well. To You be all the honor and glory!

Importance of God’s Word – Making it Personal
Reflect: Preparation seems to be the battle cry for the Body of Christ in general. In my own life I recognize the path on which I have walked to get to where I am today -- and it has humbled me. I realize how hands on Jesus has been with me -- even when I didn't see it. For the most part my preparation has been to draw me closer to Him so I will not doubt His marching orders when they come. He is wiping away fears, anxieties, and confusions and is teaching me how to use His weapons of warfare to do away with these counterfeits of Satan. The enemy would love to get us to war with one another. He wants to blur the lines between real authentic leadership and the world's leadership. He seeks to destroy families, churches and nations -- and he is very successful at it. Therefore, the times are ripe today for a great harvest -- so many of you are most likely emerging from "wilderness training seasons". If this applies to you, be grateful for all you have learned and trust God to show you the path that HE has prepared. Our roots are being grown deeper in these days so that real fruit will permeate everything we touch with the love of Christ and with His Holy Spirit's power to overcome. Now is the time to get ready. His will is being done on this earth as it is done in heaven -- and we are all a very important part of His grand design. Praise Him! Trust Him! Thank Him! Don't be afraid!

Bible Reading and Prayer - Learn More!

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus

I still have questions
