Christian Poems

Christian Poems
Christian poems are a great way for us to express our thanks to God for His grace, His creation, and His Son. While you read these Christian poems, thank God for working in your life.

Which Way?
By Jeff Norberg

Standing on the crossroads deciding which way to go toward.
To the left is my way and to the right is to the Lord.
My way means humans who are just as imperfect as me.
The Lord's way means perfection will walk beside me and be a friend in need.
My way is like a boat that doesn't have an oar.
The Lord's way is like an eagle that was made to soar.
It is true that with my way a false sense of freedom could seem strong.
Whereas the Lord's way might take work and the road may seem long.
Eventually though the illusion of freedom would end and I would be destitute and all alone.
But the Lord's way means I would have a friend to take my hand and lead me home.
I notice that even with all my possessions my life would always get unfurled.
So I reached for the treasures of Heaven and not those of the world.
I know I made the right choice as I turned right onto the road.
For it was at that instant I felt the Lord take my hand and release my load.

Bridge to Life
I wrote this poem thinking about the little wooden bridges over creeks in the Smoky Mountains.

Thank you, Jesus, for making a way
For crossing the chasm of sin,
For giving me a solid path
And giving me Life within!

Thank you, Jesus, for taking my sin
And nailing it on that tree,
Sacrifice made, Lamb was slain
So I may live for eternity!

Thank you, Jesus, for precious blood
That ran so freely for all,
So we might cross from death to Life
When we heed the Master’s call!

Boulders In My Way
When hiking back to the Roaring Fork, we always had to maneuver around large boulders. I never understood how a pioneer farmer could survive on such rocky terrain.

1 Thessalonians 3:11 - “Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you.”

There are boulders in my way
And at times the journey’s rough,
But my Lord gives me added strength
When I feel I’ve had enough.

He gives me solid footing
When the rocks get in my way,
One by one I overcome
Til I see the light of day.

Unexpected boulders come
And troubles we’ll have in life,
But take heart He’s overcome them all
To free us from pain and strife.

One by one He’ll clear the way
And ahead of us He goes,
Preparing the journey as He sees
In all the wisdom He knows.

Bass Harbor Light
Written after a trip to Acadia National Park, Maine

Psalm 27:1 - “The Lord is my Light and my Salvation-whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?”

Lord, I see the lighthouse on the hill
This island out in the sea
It reminds me, Lord, of the call
That You spoke out to me

“I am your salvation, come to Me
Let Me be your Guiding Light
Forever more to roam with Me
Never in the darkness of night

A steady Beam I’ll be for you
When you have times of despair
A constant source of Guiding Light
Never alone, I’ll always be there”

Thank You, Lord, for Your Light
That shines on me each day
Now help me to be a light that shines
For others, is what I pray

The Path To The Sea
Sometimes when we go to the beach there are little foot paths cleared out for people to take to the water. The paths are situated between sand dunes and protected sea oats. They are laden with footprints of many people making the walk to the water’s edge.

Clear the way before me Lord
Guide every step I take
Give me courage to journey on
For every mile I make

I only want to walk with You
Lord, on each path You’ll lead
Keep my feet within Your course
For there You’ll know my needs

Others will take the path we trod
The path where You made way
Be a light unto their feet
When they reach the end of day

Guide us on to journey’s end
Where we’ll meet You face to face
Thank You for the journey
That led to Heaven’s place

I Will Not Give Up
by Joye Atkinson

Sometimes it's all I can do to take another step
Then God reminds me gently of the promises He's kept
At times I want to say I quit I've had all I can take
It's hard to take my words to heart I feel like such a fake
I've tried so hard to be a light so that the Lord above
Could use me as a vessel to emanate His love
Giving up is not an option I've trusted God too long
Even though my path is rough He keeps me safe and strong
I know God is on my side the victory has been won
By the power of the blood of Jesus Christ His son
Lord don't let me lose my faith help me to live each day
Contented in your love and peace as you gently lead the way

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus

I still have questions

How can I know God?

If you died, why should God let you into heaven?
